Medical Virtual Assistant

Fecha de publicación 20.10.2026

We're looking for a reliable, empathetic, and highly organized Bilingual Medical Virtual Assistant who enjoys helping people, communicates confidently in both English and Spanish, and thrives in a fast-paced, patient-focused environment. Someone who is comfortable handling high volumes of phone calls, managing sensitive information, and supporting healthcare professionals with accuracy and professionalism. If you're detail-oriented, adaptable, and looking for a long-term remote opportunity, we'd love to meet you.

You'll play an important role in connecting patients with their healthcare teams, coordinating appointments, managing medical information, and ensuring patients receive timely and professional assistance. Depending on your assigned client, your responsibilities may combine patient-facing phone support with administrative and medical office tasks.

Responsibilities
  • Handle inbound and outbound calls with patients, healthcare providers, and insurance companies, responding to inquiries with professionalism, empathy, and accuracy.
  • Schedule, confirm, and coordinate patient appointments while maintaining accurate calendars and medical office records.
  • Access and update patient information using Electronic Medical Record (EMR/EHR) systems, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Assist with insurance eligibility verification, coverage inquiries, and patient information validation.
  • Support patient intake, admissions, and front-desk operations, helping patients navigate administrative processes.
  • Serve as a communication link between patients and healthcare professionals, ensuring questions, requests, and relevant information reach the appropriate teams.
  • Perform administrative tasks, including data entry, email management, record maintenance, and documentation.
  • Communicate clearly with English- and Spanish-speaking patients, adapting your approach to their needs and circumstances.
  • Follow established healthcare procedures, patient privacy standards, and HIPAA requirements when handling sensitive medical information.
  • Maintain consistent attendance, productivity, and service quality while adapting to the needs and working hours of assigned US healthcare clients.

Requirements
  • Fluency in English and Spanish, with excellent verbal and written communication skills and the confidence to handle professional phone conversations in both languages.
  • Previous experience in customer service, call centers, BPO operations, virtual assistance, healthcare administration, or another relevant customer-facing role.
  • Strong phone-handling skills, including the ability to manage frequent inbound and outbound calls with patience, professionalism, and empathy.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities without compromising accuracy.
  • Strong computer literacy and proficiency with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, or similar business applications.
  • Ability to learn new systems, follow established procedures, and handle confidential patient information responsibly.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, sound judgment, and the ability to communicate effectively with patients, medical professionals, and internal teams.
  • Self-motivated, dependable, and comfortable working independently in a fully remote environment.
  • Flexibility to work US business hours, including Eastern, Central, or Pacific Time, depending on the assigned client.
  • Access to a reliable computer, high-speed internet connection, and a suitable home workspace, including the required backup equipment and connectivity.

Preferred
  • 1-2 years of experience supporting US healthcare accounts, medical practices, insurance providers, or healthcare-related BPO operations.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology, patient scheduling, insurance verification, or medical office workflows.
  • Hands-on experience with EMR/EHR platforms such as Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, or NextGen.
  • Previous experience as a Medical Virtual Assistant, Medical Receptionist, Patient Care Coordinator, or Healthcare Customer Service Representative.
  • A degree or educational background in healthcare, nursing, medical administration, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations or an existing HIPAA certification.
  • Experience supporting US-based clients or working with distributed international teams.

Benefits
  • Compensation: USD $6 per hour.
  • Location: Fully remote - Latin America.
  • Contract Type: Independent Contractor.
  • Schedule: Full-time, aligned with assigned US client business hours
