We are looking for an experienced Senior Backend Engineer to join a high-performing international engineering team. This is a hands-on technical role for a senior individual contributor who is passionate about building scalable backend systems, designing robust APIs, and delivering high-quality software in a modern cloud environment.

This is not a management or architecture role-your primary focus will be designing, developing, and improving mission-critical backend services while collaborating with senior engineers across multiple countries.

Position Details

• Position: Senior Backend Engineer
• Employment Type: Full-Time Contractor
• Location: Remote (Applicants must be based in Mexico, Peru, Argentina, Guatemala, Honduras, or Colombia)
• Project Duration: Initial 12-month contract with strong potential for long-term extension
• Working Schedule: Monday-Friday, aligned with Spain (Barcelona) business hours, starting at 12:00 PM Spain time
• Team: International engineering team across Spain, Greece, Ukraine, and other European countries

What You'll Do

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using .NET Core and C#.
• Build and enhance secure, high-performance REST APIs for internal and external platforms.
• Own backend components from design through production deployment.
• Develop integrations with financial institutions, investment brokers, payment providers, and third-party services.
• Write clean, maintainable, fault-tolerant, and scalable code.
• Improve platform performance, reliability, and maintainability.
• Participate in technical discussions, architecture reviews, and code reviews with senior engineers.
• Support CI/CD initiatives and cloud infrastructure improvements when required.
• Collaborate within a distributed international engineering team.

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional Backend Software Engineering experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with .NET Core and C#.
• Extensive experience designing and developing REST APIs.
• Strong experience with relational and NoSQL databases, including:
  • SQL
  • MongoDB
  • Firestore
  • Other NoSQL databases
• Experience working with cloud platforms:
  • AWS
  • Azure
  • GCP
• Strong understanding of scalable backend architecture and distributed systems.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• English proficiency (B2+) for technical meetings and collaboration.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Mandatory Industry Experience

We are specifically looking for candidates with experience building technology for the investment sector, including one or more of the following:

• Investment FinTech platforms

• Wealth Management platforms

• Financial market integrations
• Investment brokerage platforms

Please note: Experience limited to payment processing FinTechs without exposure to investment platforms will not meet the requirements for this position.
