We are looking for a qualified and dedicated Spanish teacher for Language & Literature and Language Acquisition, starting preferably in October 2026.

We offer a challenging and engaging education for students from all age groups, equipping them with the attitudes, skills and knowledge to live a meaningful and flourishing life. The UWC Maastricht educational experience is about knowing and acting. We nurture an understanding of the world and its major challenges, and help students discover how they can serve others and make a positive contribution to society and the planet. We currently serve over 900 students from more than 100 countries, 200 of whom live in our residential community on campus.
We are looking for a qualified and dedicated Spanish teacher.
The new colleague will participate fully as a team member in the Language department and within the whole school. At UWC Maastricht every teacher is considered to be part of the pastoral care structure. Therefore subject teachers support students not only in their academic learning but also in their development as a person.

Professional competencies
The successful candidate has proven experience in teaching groups of secondary students, has experience in teaching Spanish and is fluent in English.

Who are you?
- You are confident, experienced and passionate about inquiry, concept-based learning and project-based learning;
- You can demonstrate understanding of recent developments in pedagogical best practice;
- You have previous experience working in a system that has external examination;
- You are familiar and fluent with technology supported learning and technologically competent;
- You have experience with utilizing and managing Microsoft software for course organization, content delivery, and student engagement;
- You have awareness of the need to create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the physical, social, and emotional development of children;
- You love to work with transient student populations and Third Culture Kids.
Education degree and professional experience
- Completed Bachelor and Master degree in Teaching Spanish.
- (International) Teaching Qualification / Certificate, like a Bachelor or Master in Education or QTS with induction, that qualifies for accreditation according to the Dutch educational system.
- At least 2 years of relevant experience in an IB school and working with the IB MYP and CP/DP program. Additional IB training is preferred.

Terms of Employment
- You will get a temporary contract of employment, starting 1 October 2026, under Dutch law: it is a contract as Spanish Teacher for 0.8 FTE: on average 32 hours per week, initially for the rest of the Academic year and can be renewed after that.
- The package will be commensurate with the responsibilities of the position, according to the Dutch Collective Labour Agreement for Secondary Education ('CAO VO'). The salary is based on years of experience and lies between €3.622,- and €5.520- per month on a full time basis.
- Participation in the school's pension plan via the ABP Retirement/Pension Fund.
- Support in the application for the '30% Facility for Incoming Employees' with the Dutch Tax Authorities (if relevant).
