About the Role

We're looking for a detail-oriented and sports-savvy Spanish Language Editor to join our editorial team on a short-term contract. The successful candidate will be responsible for editing 10 to 20 articles per day that have been translated from English into Spanish, ensuring they are accurate, engaging, and culturally relevant for Spanish-speaking audiences.

This is a fast-paced role ideal for someone with a passion for British and global sport, particularly football, and a strong grasp of both English and Spanish.

Key Responsibilities

• Edit and refine translated articles to ensure clarity, accuracy, and fluency in Spanish.
• Maintain consistency in style and terminology across all content and ensure it preserves a Daily Mail tone of voice.
• Develop and improve a central glossary.
• Fact-check and verify sports-related information, especially football statistics, teams, and events.
• Collaborate with the editorial and translation teams to improve workflows and quality.
• Ensure content is culturally appropriate and resonates with Spanish-speaking audiences.

Requirements

• Fluency in both Spanish and English (native or near-native level).
• Proven experience in editing or translating content, ideally in a digital publishing or journalism setting.
• Strong knowledge of British and international sport, especially football (teams, leagues, players, competitions).
• Ability to work quickly and accurately under tight deadlines.
• Familiarity with SEO best practices is a plus.

Desirable Skills

• Experience working with CMS platforms.
• Understanding of regional variations in Spanish (Spain vs. Latin America).
• Previous work in sports media.
