Main purpose of job:

The British Embassy in Port-au-Prince is seeking a proactive and politically aware Political Officer to join a small, high-performing team. Working closely with the British Ambassador and Deputy Head of Mission, the successful candidate will play a key role in delivering the Embassy's political engagement, reporting and programme objectives in Haiti.

This is a varied and rewarding position at the heart of the UK's engagement with Haiti. Alongside political reporting, the Political Officer will manage programmes and projects that support UK objectives, including democratic governance, human rights, security, migration and sustainable economic development. The role also leads on the UK's Chevening Scholarship programme in Haiti, helping to strengthen long-term links between Haiti and the United Kingdom.

The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator, capable of building strong relationships, representing the embassy externally in the absence of British staff, exercising sound judgement and working independently in a fast-paced and often challenging environment.
