Work in pharma, live in Malta

The pattern

One day shift, one night shift, two days off, repeat. Twelve-hour shifts, which means roughly half the year is time off. Not a long weekend now and then, but every second block, all year. People who have worked this pattern rarely want to go back to five days on and two off.

The trade-off is real: night shifts are a permanent part of it. If that is a dealbreaker, this is not the role. If it suits you, it is one of the better patterns in manufacturing.

Why Malta

English is an official language, so you can work, rent a flat, open a bank account and see a doctor without learning a new language first. Malta is in the EU and the eurozone, a genuine hub for pharmaceutical manufacturing, and roughly 300 sunny days a year.

The work

Our client is an established pharmaceutical manufacturer in Hal Far, producing active pharmaceutical ingredients and finished medicines, with around 180 people from a wide mix of nationalities. You run and monitor production equipment, follow written procedures exactly, document your work and keep your area to pharmaceutical standards. This is a hands-on production role, and you will be working directly on the production floor rather than in a traditional office environment.

No pharmaceutical background needed, training happens on site. Production, technical work, the food industry and customer service all translate well. What matters is precision and reliability.

What you need

• English at C1 level. Any other language is a plus, none is required
  
• Work experience, ideally somewhere procedures and accuracy mattered
  
• Willingness to work permanent rotating day and night shifts
  
• The means to relocate to Malta yourself if you're not already based there. The move is on you, so savings matter
  
• Hold an EU citizenship or work permit for Malta, applicants who do not will not be considered

• EUR 20,600 to 23,800 gross per year, based on your experience, education and soft skills
  
• A 5 percent annual bonus, plus a shift allowance on top of your base salary
