We are seeking a dynamic, enthusiastic, and student-centered French and Spanish Teacher to join our Secondary Languages Department on a part-time basis. The successful candidate will teach French and Spanish within the MYP, fostering students' language acquisition skills and intercultural understanding. The ideal candidate will create engaging and meaningful learning experiences that support students in developing communication skills, cultural awareness, and a love for languages. They will contribute to a collaborative teaching environment aligned with the philosophy of the International Baccalaureate.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging French and Spanish lessons aligned with the IB Middle Years Programme Language Acquisition framework.
- Support students in developing listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in both languages.
- Create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment that encourages active participation and language practice.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs and proficiency levels of students.
- Use formative and summative assessment strategies aligned with MYP assessment criteria.
- Provide timely feedback to support student progress and language development.
- Foster intercultural understanding and appreciation of French- and Spanish-speaking cultures.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate effectively with parents and colleagues.
- Collaborate with colleagues within the Languages Department and contribute to curriculum planning where required.
- Participate in school events, meetings, and professional development activities as appropriate.
- Adhere to all school safeguarding and child protection policies.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in French, Spanish, Modern Languages, Education, or a related field.
- Recognized teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, QTS, or teaching license) preferred.
- Experience teaching French and Spanish to secondary students is required.
- Experience teaching within the IB Middle Years Programme or other international curricula is advantageous.
- Native or near-native proficiency in French and Spanish is strongly preferred.
- Fluent English proficiency (C1-C2 level).
