The Role

The Henrietta Barnett School is seekingto appoint a highly qualified and enthusiastic Teacher of Spanish fromSeptember 2026. The successful applicant will have the qualifications, skillsand passion to teach Spanish to highly able students all the way from Key Stage3 to Key Stage 5 and to teach another language to the end of Key Stage 4. Theability to deliver German at KS3 is highly desirable. The successful applicantshould also enjoy working as part of a team. Modern Foreign Languages are verypopular at The Henrietta Barnett School and recruits A-level classes in French,German and Spanish every year. The department is forward-thinking and ambitiousin pedagogy and in challenging our students. The overwhelming majority of all lessonsis conducted in target language. Every year, students go onto top universities,including Oxford and Cambridge, to study related courses.

The school is also recruiting for the post of Subject Lead for Spanish. Candidates should indicate clearly in their application statement whether they are interested solely in the teaching position or in the TLR as well.

TheHenrietta Barnett School is a fully selective girls' grammar school, situatedin the beautiful surroundings of Hampstead Garden Suburb. Dame HenriettaBarnett, who was a social reformer, pioneer of education and champion of thepoor and needy, founded the school in 1911. About You

Thequalities of the successful candidate will include:

• Excellent qualifications and knowledge of Spanish and related pedagogy to enable the development of an outstanding learning environment and challenge all the way through to Key Stage 5;
• Qualifications/knowledge/experience of the other language to enable the development of an outstanding learning environment and challenge to the end of Key Stage 4;
• The ability to deliver Germanto at least Key Stage 3 is desirable;
• A commitment to active learning and the development of practical skills including the use of ICT
• The ability to accept responsibility and work independently
• The ability to organise, prioritise, plan and co-ordinate a variety of tasks and procedures, and to work under pressure
• Effective communication skills and the ability to create good professional relationships. The job involves formal and informal contact with students, parents and colleagues.
