OverviewPerform research and analyze proxy statements to complete proxy analyses for shareholders' meetings of publicly traded companies covered by ISS' Research team.
Responsibilities- Perform investment research and proxy analyses for shareholders' meetings of publicly traded companies in the Latin American markets.
- Develop market expertise in corporate governance, investment, and shareholder issues gathered through fundamental research and engagement with company executives, institutional investors, and various organizations and government/regulatory/listing authorities.
- Read and understand filings (in Spanish) and distill financial, industry, and corporate governance information to draft analyses and issue proxy vote recommendations (in English) based on ISS' policy guidelines (available at issgovernance.com/policy).
- Check and ensure that the accurate company's data information has been collected including, but not limited to company's financials, directors' profiles, remuneration data, and auditor fees to be used in proxy analysis reports.
- Maintain an understanding of compensation, board issues, and shareholder rights.
- Answer internal/external client/issuer queries on research reports.
- Actively participate in various working committees and/or special projects.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree or higher in Business, Finance, Accounting or other business-related area
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in corporate governance, investment analysis, and/or financial research, or other business-related areas
- Fluency in Spanish in addition to fluency in English. Working proficiency in Portuguese also a plus
- Understanding of corporate governance issues, corporate transactions and capital markets
- Familiarity with Latin America countries' regulators and stock exchanges
- Good analytical and research skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to handle multiple priorities
- Knowledge of MS Office and MS Excel
