POSITION: Spanish Teacher
REPORTS TO: Principal

POSITION SUMMARY:
The International School of Kigali (ISK) is hiring a Spanish Teacher for the 2025-2027 academic year. ISK uses the ACTFL framework for its curriculum and offers Advanced Placement courses. The selected candidate will teach Spanish in Elementary, Middle, and High School classes as part of a dynamic team working to build and enhance the Spanish language program.
The successful candidate should be confident in inquiry-based/project-based teaching and committed to continued professional growth. They should embody ISK's Vision and Mission in their actions inside and outside the classroom. This position may also involve serving as a homeroom advisor.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- A teaching qualification in Modern Languages, such as a PGCE or equivalent.
- Valid teaching credential in a related field.
- Experience teaching AP Spanish.
- At least three years of teaching experience in Spanish.
- Prior experience in an international school setting is preferred.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teaching Responsibilities:
- Solid understanding of pedagogy and instructional approaches, including Understanding by Design, Social Emotional Learning, integration, and conceptual inquiry.
- Plan, develop, and implement engaging Spanish lessons tailored to diverse student needs.
- Assess student learning and provide meaningful feedback to students and parents.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop and refine the Spanish curriculum and assessment materials.
- Participate in professional development activities.
- Maintain a positive and supportive learning environment.
- Adhere to school policies, including child safety standards.
- Collaboration and Shared Resources:
- Use and develop curriculum resources to meet student needs.
- Align lessons with AERO standards for curriculum continuity.
- After School Activities and Events:
- Contribute to after-school activities for at least two (2) quarters annually.
- Participate in school events and activities regularly.
